Anyways, I covered the wedding, and now I must cover the week at the lake with the fam. We had so much fun! Addy proved even more how much of a fish she is and Ellie surprised us both with her aptitude for water. I am so grateful we had the opportunity to stay and camp with my family. The girls loved it and we hadn't been camping yet this year, so it was nice to get that vacation! The only thing that was less than perfect were the bees. Holy moly. You seriously could see hundreds flying everywhere you looked. The sand was covered in them, and the ground was constantly swarming with them. The ranger at the camp gave us some bee spray and told us "good luck." That's how many there were. Scott asked me how many people I thought would get stung and I said that several of us probably would. He said that it would be more like 2. Yeah. I was right! Addy and I both got stung, along with more than half of my siblings and my dad. Funny story: Ryan, 8, got stung down at the beach. He was kind of crying and putting some mud or plant leaves on it. Addy yelled "owie!" and then was scratching a place on her leg. I said, "I think Addy got stung Scott!" And Ryan quipped, "Yeah right! She would be screaming if she got stung!" And guess what? Not a tear. And yes, she was stung. I cannot believe how tough that little girl is! I got stung walking back from the beach when a bee was caught in my flip flop. Got me right on the ball of my foot. And Ryan was right. It hurts! I wanted to cry! My dad heard me yell to my mom that I got stung and said, "I guess you really respect Addy right now, huh?" lol. Apparently he wanted to cry too :P
Addy wanted to help Grandpa pound the stakes into his tent. She was carrying around the hammer, but I missed it. So cute!
Hiding from the lady with the camera! He was being so funny!
As I said earlier, Addy and Elli both loved the water. We were in the lake pretty much all day every day. Addy didn't like her life jacket at first, but she learned that we would leave her to play however she wanted if she was wearing it, so she got used to it real quick :)
This is the "distressed garden gnome" my brother made. Look closely. I thought it was pretty dang good!
This little girly LOVED the lake! She still asks me to go lol. Scott and I were so excited to watch her enjoy nature :)
A cool bird we observed sitting in a tree. It sat there for quite a while. There was another just like it flying, but the only picture I have it blurry so I deleted it :)
This little girl never stops smiling. She sure loves her aunts and uncles! And they love her right on back!
We had access to all of the paddle boats and kayaks, so we took advantage! Addy must have gone on a boat with every person there! This is grandpa's turn!
Also at the place we were able to stay at was a huge, and I mean huge, tree fort. The thing had two house things the size of my living room. It had a climbing wall, a rope swing, a rope net crossing thing, and several sets of stairs and passage ways. It also had a room the size of my bedroom that was open to the air with benches built in all around it. We were able to watch a movie here the second night. My dad brought his projector and Scott brought the speakers we used for the wedding. It was so much fun!
Addy and daddy loved the kayaks. I would often look over to see Addy manning the paddles...they didn't ever get anywhere this way, but luckily daddy just loves being out with his girly :)
Out for a walk with mimi. While we were there, Ellie got really sick and couldn't eat or sleep because she was so stuffy she couldn't breathe. Scott and I set out on a two or three hour journey to find an effective booger sucker. I found out there is no such thing unless you get it from the hospital. I hate when my baby is sick and I can't do anything about it :( But she was so sweet anyways! She kept smiling and just snuggled instead of being super lively. It was so nice to sit on the beach and snuggle my little bug!
I'm not sure what this is all about...I'm sad I missed it though! lol
My brother found a little lizard and convinced my mom to let him keep it and take it home. The kids loved watching it! Addy and Jet were little buddies the entire time they were there. Each time they would find something new to do, they would call the other over. This is where we found them...looking at the lizard. Poor Ryan though :( The lizard's cage got tipped over and it got away. We prayed for him in family prayer. Afterwards my dad said, "I think Heavenly Father already did that lizard a favor" lol.
Addy was NOT afraid to touch it! Gross...
Oh ya know, just eating suckers and hanging out in our chair :)
Are those not the fattest legs you've seen in a while? And yet, at her 6 month appt yesterday, she was in the 50th percentile for weight (average) and, drumroll, the 95th for height! Only 5% of kids her age are taller than her...what? Yep.
While in Spokane, we found this backpack at Goodwill. Ellie LOVES it. Seriously, when she is crying here at home I stick her in it and tote her around and she turns to instant smiles and giggles. It's awesome.
Being silly so Ellie would laugh.
After the week at the lake, Scott and I stayed with my siblings while my mom and dad went to Chicago for Shauna's second reception. We took to the kids to a splash pad there. It was fun, but the water was kind of cold, so Addy mostly ran from it haha.
Excuse the nudity, but before we had a fire, Scott and Addy decided to go swimming. However, she had just pooed in her swim diaper and I didn't want to use a whole new one for a ten minute swim. So I let her go naked :) they had a ball!
Jet was missing mom and dad and when a plane flew over the kids told him they had gone on a plane. So he got pretty excited about it.
Ellie roasting Alison a mallow :)
Ryan and Scott "warming up by the fire"
After the fire, I bathed the two little munsters. Here Jet is playing peek-a-boo...he was trying to scare me lol
Again...she sat in this backpack for a good hour or so. She loves it!
Watching some youtube video with my sisters.
After a long drive home (the first 6 hours weren't bad, but the last couple were awful), we arrived home. Addy was excited to see her house again, but she made sure to let me know that she wanted Mimi and Grandpa to come over. Poor girl was disappointed lol.
A little video of Addy singing a song by yours truly :) Oh, the things we come up with when our child has been demanding "new ones" for hours! This was about halfway through our trip. We also stopped in St. Regis at the gift store she has been to with Grandpa and Mimi a couple times. She kept saying, "Find grandpa!" lol.
We had so much fun with my family. I love everything about our life. (Except the pending septic bill and Addy's medical bills lol). I love living in Rexburg and I love that Scott loves his job. I love the ward we are in and the friends we have all living so close. I love my little family and the life we've created together. But man, some days I just wish we had built that life in Spokane...lol. Anyway. Have a great day, and thanks for reading!
