Thanksgiving in the Middle of Nowhere

OK so we had a million pictures, so I decided to narrow it down for the blog! Our trip to Wyoming was so much fun! More than both of us anticipated! Addy was amazing for both car trips, and we were lucky enough to see wildlife on both trips! In all, we saw big horn sheep, several bald eagles, several hawks, two gold eagles, some deer, a wild rabbit, and probably more that I'm forgetting! It was awesome to see the many creatures that God has created for our enjoyment :) I am also grateful for what we didn't see: snakes!

The first morning we were there, Addy tried some juice from this melon thing. It tasted like mild grapefruit and was so good! Addy didn't want to eat the fruit, but she thought this was pretty cool!

Thanksgiving morning, some of the crew headed out shooting. I had promised Scott that I would shoot our gun so that I knew how to do it if someone ever came into our house. I thought I wouldn't enjoy it, but I really did! Here we both are tryin' it out!
The sun was SO bright in our eyes! I look retarded, but I still like the picture :)
Scott got to shoot the .30-06 and boy, was it loud! This is Steve's dog in the picture. He loves shooting and being outdoors! That dog amazed me!
This is Addy on Thanksgiving. I tried to keep her awake, but right before everyone sat down to lunch I had to put her down for a nap. She was a grumpy gus! But she slept for a couple hours and woke up happy as she's ever been!
The whole crew! This is the most of Scott's family that has been together since I've known him...and probably longer. It was so great to spend time with everyone.
Mommy and Addy enjoying the company.
After a couple days, Addy got tired of being confined to the house, so Scott and Aunt Rachel too her out for a ride on some contraption...I didn't see it, so I'm not sure what it was lol. It wasn't snowing, but I was glad I brought her stuff because it was chilly! At first, she hated it because she couldn't move, but she quickly got used to being bundled up. She does love her gloves though!
Saturday we all headed out to the mountains to do some playing and hiking. It took a while to find where we wanted to be, and we took a break in the middle to make sure we weren't lost lol. Uncle Steve made deer jerky to rival my uncle's and Addy LOVED it! She sucked and chewed until she got it all down! Here she is watching Grandpa Carter.
I was actually quite amazed at how pretty the mountains in Wyoming can be. Here are some cool shots that I got of the area we were hiking and exploring.
Here's Addy and daddy! We wanted to hike to some indian cave drawings, and we decided to do so...None of us realized how far down they were! I think we probably ended up hiking two miles! Addy did great and I did pretty well too. By the end, my legs were ready to be done, but hey, that's pretty good for 25 weeks pregnant!
Me and baby Chevelle. We had her all bundled up! She fell asleep hiking as she was passed from one to another of us! Addy loves that baby!

Addy also loved playing in the sand!

Love this pic of Scott. He thinks it's goofy, but I love it. :)
I was trying to emphasize my belly so I didn't just look fat and Emily and Rachel were mocking me!

This is what Addy was doing the entire hike to the indian drawings! She just kept talking and talking and everyone was laughing at her!

The scenery along our hike. This canyon was fun to walk through!

Still going!

The carvings! We finally made it!

Poor Addy baby did NOT want to get picked back up for the hike out haha. I love this picture!

This sound was a little different...and she did it the majority of the time we were hiking back...we just thought she must be growlin' at something!

And finally....our family picture! Hope you enjoyed this short recap of Thanksgiving. We had some great times and made some great memories. I love having big families on both sides. It's so fun to get together with everyone. We are so grateful for family and all of our blessings this holiday season. Can't wait for Christmas with the Lee's!

Holy Cow! And Other Fun :)

So the other day, I looked out my window and yelled, "Holy cow!" And when Scott asked what I could actually tell him that I meant it! It was a cow! And not just one, but 11! Eating my grass...Oh the joys of living in the country. Our yard is covered with hoof marks, but Addy and I had a good time watching them. The second picture shows one scratching itself on my tree! I'm not sure why, but Addy is convinced that cows are really horses...Our neighbors across the street just got cows, and Addy looks at them out the window frequently. It doesn't matter how many times I say "moo" she always just neighs at them. And these were no different! lol

Scott is in love with this pretzel roll recipe we found and he ALWAYS wants to make them. So Friday, we decided to just do it! Here he is after making the dough...covered in flour. I love my dough boy! :P
Addy wore her first pony tail with a bow. She looked adorable and she knew it!
We also crafted a bunch this week! I really wanted to make this wreath, but wasn't about to pay full price for the wreaths involved (a curse put upon me by my mother :P) but then I found them at the DOLLAR STORE. I. Love. That. Place.
Scott also made these nifty snowflakes out of popsicle sticks. I LOVE how they look on my colored wall!

This mitten advent calendar was one that I started last year and just finished conference weekend. Yeah...I'm slow. But now I'll have them FOREVER. I wouldn't make them again but I'm glad I did it once!
Today, Addy helped me out a lot in the kitchen. She helped me make an apple crisp this morning and then she helped me make dinner...well, she kinda helped :) She was SO excited when she saw daddy take a bite of the pile of cheese she was eyeing. She laughed and dug right in!

It's been a great week! Can't wait for Thanksgiving in Lovell this weekend!

Oh, Christmas Tree

I don't know why, but today I felt like black and white :) So here's our journey of setting up our Christmas tree, which we did for FHE this week. Addy was totally excited and ready and willing to help! Here she is handing daddy one of the legs. She enjoyed pulling them out and handing them to him.

As mentioned in my previous post, Addy LOVES being in boxes, bins, and baskets! We couldn't ask for a cuter little Christmas elf :)

Mommy and babies Carter stringing the lights! Addy was enthralled!

I didn't think it would do the tree justice to put the final picture in black and white lol. SO here is our finished tree. I got the idea to put it on a table from a friend in our student ward, and I stole the idea. This way, Addy can reach the lowest branch and she is more than welcome to pull all the plastic bulbs off that she can reach. Luckily, in the last week she's only had one or two off at a time, and she helps mommy put them back at bedtime. I am so excited to have Christmas with my baby girl now that she is old enough to enjoy all the festivities!

Addy had to go down for a nap while mom and dad finished the tree. I was so excited for her to wake up and see it, but as you'll see in the video, she was more excited about something (someone) else. :) I love how much she loves Daddy.

A Tisket, A Tasket, Baby in a Basket

Sunday Addy and I had to go to church by ourselves because Daddy had to do sound for a general authority on campus. Here she is, all ready to go and happy. She did so well!

This week I cracked and got out some Christmas stuff. I'll post more pictures later, but here Addy is reading one of her books. She was really into it!

One of Addy's quirks is her love for boxes, bins, and baskets. This is her block container. She dumps out all her blocks and hops in. Every time. Build a tower? No. Just sit in the box. :) I don't know if you can tell, but I got her hair in a pony tail!

And here's a cute little video to make ya smile :)

It's a Wonderful Life

The last week has been crazy, but fun :) Addy has been teething :( She's getting her two top molars. For her, teething has never been a big deal. Maybe one fussy day, never interrupts her sleep, and a tooth pops through! These molars, however, have been quite the challenge. A whole WEEK of grumpy, whiny baby (though the two or three hours of the day that she is happy after Daddy get home make up for it all). Luckily, she's been sleeping like a champ; two 2 hour naps and a 12 hour night. Baths have been my salvation. She loves them. Check out that crazy hair!

Scott has been wanting to do this picture since we got Lola. We bought some temple pants for Scott at D. I. that were too long so I hemmed them. Addy found the piece I cut off and got it around herself, and Daddy toted these two around! I thought it was comical :)

Let me preface this by saying: 40 pounds of apples is A LOT of apples. Back when I was at home, we would order two or three of the huge boxes when the really cheap season sale hit. And we never canned a single apple. We ate them all. Apple crisps and after-school-snacks, along with a dose or two of Dad's apple fritters and they vanished. Three people just don't do the same damage...so I set my mind to being creative! This is one of the three batches of apple pie filling I canned. I also made my first apple pie :) Scott helped though, so I can't really take all the credit. I told him I made all the filling, so he can do all the crusts (I hate that part). I also did apple butter, apple crisp, and I have been snacking on them like crazy!

This week, I spent the best dollar I've ever spent. Dollar Tree. Eight strands of metallic beads. Addy's heaven. She spent literally two hours the first evening putting them on and taking them off. And she's played with them consistently since. And it's magical for car rides. Look at that happy girl!

Since we moved into our house and have had more room, we have been building our food storage. Here it is so far. Those are home canned pickles, pie filling, and green beans. On the floor are flour, sugar, and rice. Next month I think I'd better add some oats. We've felt the blessings promised for preparing to be self reliant in an emergency.

Well, that's it for this week! We also voted (which I will say NOTHING about because I am too disgusted and disappointed) and went to dinner at Pizza Pie Cafe. Addy ate an entire piece of pizza with her own fork with virtually NO mess. I love my coordinated eater! All in all it was a great week and we look forward to the holidays!

Baby + Yard + Fall = So. Much. Fun.

Addy LOVES playing outside. Enough said :) We went outside one day and she was loving the Fallness that is Rexburg right now. So I, of course, grabbed my camera and started shootin'. We love to play! (Funny how I said earlier that enough had been said, and then continued to ramble...)

Have a good week everybody! And Happy November!
